Water and Energy Saving in the Territory (WEST) Plus
The WEST Plus program aims to help private renters, home owner-occupiers, Housing ACT tenants and community housing tenants who are on low incomes and who are experiencing financial hardship, to reduce consumption and cost of electricity, gas and water.
WEST Plus is offered free of charge and provides eligible households with:
- a home energy and water assessment, which will pin-point new and extra opportunities to save energy and water;
- education to improve understanding of energy and water use and changes in behaviour that could reduce consumption, to ensure sustainable benefits for households; and
- a modest retrofit, with the supply and installation of energy and water efficiency products. These might include energy-saving powerboards, efficient light bulbs, low-flow showerheads, draught stoppers, pipe insulation, blockout blinds and curtains, and seals for fridges, doors and windows. Households may also be eligible for the replacement of energy-inefficient appliances.
